Some careers must begin in college. If you want to be a lawyer, doctor, or teacher, you must go to college to get these jobs. For these kind of jobs, a college degree is essential to have in your Resume. Some require very intense college study, while some are not so crazy. Deciding what career you want might be a hard decision, so here are a few things to keep in mind while looking.
First, don’t dismiss your childhood dream just because it requires a lot of college work! College can be fun, and you will be able to pay for it later on if you stick with it! Second, you must remember that just having something in mind puts you in front of the pack! Many students have no idea how they want to spend their lives, so they end up taking general classes because they cannot make up their minds. So, if you have something in mind, keep at it unless you find something that you generally like better. There is nothing wrong with having a plan, you will be further ahead if you have a plan anyway.
The next thing to remember is that you should choose a job that will support you. You must like the job, but if you are having trouble deciding between two, choose the one with the more prospective earnings! Nice cars, cool gadgets, and great vacations all cost, and you will be able to do a lot more, and have a lot more, if your job pays more. And while money cannot buy happiness, why not be happy with a job while making money at the same time? So, do not discount money entirely.
Above all, how do you want to spend the rest of your life? Where do you see yourself in 20, 30, or 40 years? Do you want to be a famous doctor, a professional mechanic, or a retired military commander? Do you want to be enjoying retirement, or still working? Or, do you want to own your own business by then?
